Description:

The LM Cases HD shipping pallet is designed to transport road cases and other items with wheels via LTL freight. In terms of LTL freight pricing, the most ideal cost scenario is an item on a pallet with the shipper and receiver both having a truck dock. Flight cases are unique as they generally have casters. LTL can accommodate casters however it is an upcharge. Shipping a case with casters also opens up the opportunity for damage as transfer station forklift drivers aren’t particularly gentle when moving items from trailer to trailer. We have seen shippers use a variety of methods to deal with cases on casters. The most common methods are either flipping the case upside down on a pallet or double stacking two pallets with the case’s casters dropping through the top pallet. Both options aren’t ideal for the case’s contents. Though these methods may work with the initial shipment, removing the case from the pallet is challenging. Flipped cases require multiple people to turn them right side up. Cases where the casters fell through the pallet require a precision forklift maneuver to try and remove the case from the pallet.

The LM Cases HD shipping pallet is designed to solve these problems. Though costly compared to a standard 4ft x 4ft pallet, this custom pallet is specifically designed for road cases on casters with loading and unloading only requiring a single person. This pallet was designed with trade shows in mind however production companies can also benefit as this pallet will allow cases to be shipped on standard LTL carrier’s vs specialized entertainment specific carriers.

The pallet is built from ¾” Baltic Birch with 4x4’s as the stringers. A removable ramp is included allowing cases to roll up on the pallet deck. The ramp interlocks with the side of the pallet to keep it in place during use. The ramp stores into deck of the pallet via a mortise and tenon joint. Sliding latches are provided to lock the ramp in place. For redundancy, 2 – 6ft ratchet straps are provided to further secure the ramp. Tie down points for the ramp are located under it as to not interfere with the usable storage space on the pallet deck. A recessed label dish is located underneath the ramp to attach ID labels. 10 recessed, spring-loaded D-Ring tie downs are provided to secure items to the pallet deck. Each tie down is secured via bolts to allow for the maximum amount of torque to be applied. 2 label dishes are provided in the pallet surface for ID tags.
